Welcome to my brand new Blog!

Hi everyone and welcome to my brand new BLOG!  There has been a lot of change over here at Mercedes McAndrew Photography and I am excited to share it with all of you. So much to tell but where to begin?  Well, for starters, the company got a makeover! I’ve re-branded, updated my website to look even cooler than it already was, and I’ve added this gorgeous new blog.  Whoo hoo!  I especially want to take this opportunity to point out a few major players who helped make all of the ideas in my head a reality.  I owe them a huge, huge thank you.   These people that I speak of are Josie Morway, Zida Borcich, and Don Cento.

When I decided I wanted to “freshen up” the logo, I immediately put the word out to some of the best design schools in the country to see if I could connect with either a recent student or an alum to help me with my project. Well, after looking at numerous design portfolios, I decided to go with a graduate of RISD (Rhode Island School of Design) by the name of Josie Morway.  Josie was so great to work with.  She was patient and positive and without her help, I would not have this stellar looking new logo that I am absolutely in LOVE with.  Thank you Josie!

So now that I have a new logo, I needed to get some new business cards printed up.  And if you are anything like me, you obsess over details and you can’t use the word quintessential too often. The cards had to be the be-all-end-all.  No exceptions.   After many, many nights of trolling the web, pouring over stationary ideas, I stumbled upon a gem. Zida Borcich of Studio Z in Mendecino, CA worked with me to create the most gorgeous business card I have ever carried. These cards are so thick, printed on Cranes Lettra 600 gsm paper, I can’t even carry more than six at a time in my card holder.  The cards, made out of 100% recycled denim, feel like heaven in your hands.  Soooo gooooood!  Thank you Zida!

And last but far from least, is the man who updated my site and put together this blog and was an absolute awesome dood to work with, a big huge thanks to Don Cento from Second Bridge Design.  I first met Don about 5 years ago in New York City when he came to town to play at the Mercury Lounge with his band.  Don, who is based out of Dallas, TX is super cool and we have kept in touch over the years.  He had helped numerous time with my old site and now, here he is again, for the mac daddy overhaul.  I could not be more pleased with his work.  It was exactly what I asked for and he even surprised me with a few little goodies here and there such some cool drop down information tabs and my totally awesome flavicon (the red M in the browser window.  really, it’s the little things that make me so happy.)  Don may be a fabulous web designer by day but he is a stellar musician by night.  You can check out more of his music endeavors here and here.  He really is incredibly talented. Thank you so much Don!

And now onto more blogging!  I will be posting new and old work as well as making announcements to let you know what’s going on here.  Please feel free to leave a comment or drop me a note to say “hi”.  I would love to hear from you all!

Ciao for now!
